Germany Kicks Off Euro 2024 With A Thumping Win

Germany Defeats 10-Man Scotland 5-1 In Opening Match

Impressive Start For Hosts In European Championship Bid

WEB Germany made a resounding start to their Euro 2024 campaign, thrashing Scotland 5-1 in the opening match of the tournament on Friday.

Playing in front of their home crowd, the Germans dominated from the outset, and their superiority was rewarded with a fifth-minute goal from Timo Werner. Scotland was reduced to 10 men in the 23rd minute when Kieran Tierney was sent off for a reckless challenge on Jamal Musiala.

Germany took full advantage of the extra man, scoring four more goals before the break. Leroy Sane doubled the lead in the 25th minute, and Marco Reus made it 3-0 just four minutes later. Thomas Muller added a fourth in the 37th minute, and Kai Havertz completed the rout in the 45th minute.

Scotland pulled one back in the second half through Che Adams, but it was a mere consolation goal. Germany could have extended their lead even further, but they were denied by some excellent saves from Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall.

The win gives Germany a huge confidence boost ahead of their next match against Portugal on Wednesday. Scotland, meanwhile, will need to regroup and hope for a better result against the Czech Republic on Monday.
