Carlton Pulls Off Grand Final Boilover

Lions lose to Blues in thriller

Carlton pulls off grand final boilover

Blues overcome 46-point deficit

Carlton has pulled off one of the great wins in its history, overturning a 46-point deficit to defeat Brisbane by a point in a thrilling AFL match at the Gabba.

After a five-goal to one opening quarter, Carlton managed just four more goals for the remainder of the match as Brisbane ran out 11.13 (79) to 5.8 (38) winners.

The Blues' unlikely victory was set up by a dominant second quarter, in which they kicked three goals to one and reduced the margin to just 11 points at the main break.

Brisbane steadied in the third term, but Carlton continued to chip away at the lead and eventually drew level with just minutes remaining in the match.

Harry McKay kicked the winning goal with just seconds remaining on the clock, sending the Blues faithful into raptures.
